Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a driven and decisive Operations Manager Freight Forwarding. In this key role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our freight forwarding department, ensuring our customers receive the highest level of service. You combine strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on approach and know how to inspire your team to achieve outstanding results together. As a member of the Management Team, you will actively contribute to the further development of our organization and help shape the future of our services.
The Role
As Operations Manager Freight Forwarding, you will be responsible for organizing, coordinating and optimizing all operational activities within the freight forwarding department. Your main responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of freight forwarders and assistant freight forwarders.
- Assigning workloads and setting operational priorities.
- Monitoring the accurate and timely handling of transport and forwarding files.
- Providing hands-on operational support whenever required.
- Ensuring a balanced distribution of work across the department.
- Coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
- Promoting teamwork, collaboration and a results-driven culture.
- Monitoring and continuously improving operational processes and procedures.
- Maintaining and further developing relationships with customers, agents, carriers, shipping lines and other logistics partners.
- Identifying market developments and commercial opportunities.
- Translating new market developments into concrete improvement proposals for senior management.
- Organizing operational meetings and reporting to the Managing Director and General Manager.
- Monitoring customer satisfaction and contributing to the company's strong reputation.
- Actively contributing to the achievement of company objectives as a member of the Management Team.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for an experienced logistics professional with a strong personality who is capable of operating both strategically and operationally. You have:
- Several years of management experience within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
- Extensive knowledge of international transportation and freight forwarding processes.
- Experience with operational software, CRM systems and shipment management systems.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Excellent command of Dutch, English, French and German.
- A hands-on mentality and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Financial awareness and cost-conscious thinking.
- Decisiveness and persuasive communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and a customer-oriented mindset.
- Flexibility regarding tasks and working hours.
